Jason Rogers & David Mollett

The story of solitary subarctic harvest in Jacks Bay, and an authentic artistic partnership with celebrated Alaska painter David Mollett.

The Solo Harvester

Aurora Seaweed is founded and operated entirely by Jason Rogers out of Fairbanks, Alaska. Braving the sub-zero winds and 38°F waters of Valdez in Prince William Sound, Jason personally tends every longline and hand-culls every frond.

"Speed is purity," Jason explains. "When you harvest seaweed, you are capturing a fleeting moment of ocean vitality. If you delay, you lose everything that makes Alaskan kelp magical."

The David Mollett Partnership

The visual identity of Aurora Seaweed honors master Alaskan landscape artist David Mollett. A close personal friend of Jason's, Mollett enthusiastically granted his permission to model the brand identity after his celebrated paintings of Alaska's coastal ranges and radiant Arctic sunlight.

The bold, chiseled mountain planes and warm embers of the Jacks Bay panorama reflect Mollett's distinctive vision of the North: wild, unyielding, and profoundly luminous.
